Among the photographic projects I curated in 2023, I have a beautiful memory of Gaia Pietrella's Sunflowers.
Gaia is a young entrepreneur, specifically, a Giant Flower Artist, who, from the small village of Allerona. is now conquering the world with entirely hand-made flowers and floral compositions of considerable size, that enrich special events and occasions.
I had already photographed her roses, poppies, peonies, but this was truly a unique opportunity!
She had been commissioned a series of giant sunflowers for a Summer Wedding, and after days of hard work, she had produced a series of amazing flowers, that resembled the real thing so much, that she decided there and then that they deserved a dedicated photoshoot, therefore we to took them to a local sunflower field and I started shooting.
I must admit that the only difference between Gaia Pietrella's giant sunflowers and the sunflowers in the field was in the size, because Gaia's went far beyond reality, ..otherwise, it would have been difficult for anyone to spot any difference between art and nature.
Gaia's work was exceptional, her passion in this work being so evident as it is reflected in her meticulous attention to detail.
The ability to create something so beautiful is a true gift, a talent that Gaia has been able to cultivate and nourish with hours of study and hard work, where Gaia has put her natural creativity to good use.
