A blend of romance, art, history, and a touch of unexpected adventure.
This was this lovely American couple’s wedding day in Italy.
Tashia and Steve chose Tivoli, a charming town only 30m kilometres from Rome, as the backdrop for their special day, creating a celebration that would blend both their passions—his love of skateboarding and her deep admiration for art and archaeology.
Tashia’s love for art and archaeology made Italy the obvious choice for this couple’s destination wedding, and Daniela from Italy Italian Weddingshttps://www.italyitalianweddings.com/ helped make their dream come true, arranging for their civil ceremony to be held in the beautiful Sala Rossa (red hall) of Tivoli’s town hall.
As a surprise to her husband, who’s been skateboarding for years, she had a custom skateboard delivered to their hotel on their wedding day. He had no idea it was coming, but the bride knew it was the perfect gift.
Though the day was all about love and tradition, the thoughtful gesture was a reminder that their bond was built on shared experiences and the ability to embrace each other's passions. The skateboard was not just a gift—it was a symbol of their unique connection, blending his love for adventure with her appreciation for creativity.
So, the couple made sure their wedding day reflected both their worlds.
It was a beautiful way to blend the traditional romance of their wedding with a personal touch, and it set the tone for the adventurous and unique day ahead.
After the ceremony, the couple made their way to Rome for an unforgettable photoshoot on a chauffeur-driven Scooby-Doo minivan, a playful nod to their carefree personalities and sense of fun. The colourful, retro vehicle set the tone for the rest of the day, reminding them that life’s journey is about embracing the unexpected and enjoying the ride.
Rome wasn’t just about the traditional tourist spots. As a nod to the groom's passion for skateboarding, the couple made a special stop at a local skateboard park where the groom, wearing his wedding attire took a few spins on the board and these spontaneous moment were caught reflecting both the bride's and groom's love for adventure and individuality.
As the day unfolded, the newlyweds ventured to some of Rome's most famous historical landmarks. Their first stop was the Colosseum, where they stood in the shadow of such an iconic structure, perhaps knowing that like the Colosseum, their love had stood the test of time.
The Mouth of the Truth was their second step, made immortal by the beautiful 1950s’ movie “Roman Holidays”, a massive marble image of man’s face which, according to the legend, can bite the hands of liars.
The final stop for the newlyweds was the "Fontanone" (the Big Fountain)—a majestic fountain, with breathtaking architecture where most Roman couples come to celebrate their marriage, and the couple felt honoured to be part of this tradition.
In the end, it wasn’t just about the venue, the traditions, or the surprises. It was about two people who loved each other enough to build a wedding that was uniquely their own—a day that celebrated the intersection of history, art, and passion, with a little bit of skateboarding thrown in for good measure. And it was my privilege to be there and capture their moments.
Their love story is like Rome itself, grand and timeless.
